Within Hawke’s Bay there are two major cities.  

Napier is on the coast and is a busy tourist destination. Napier is also recognised for its Art Deco architecture. Alternatively take the walkway along the coast and enjoy the air. You may like to stop at the restaurants and bars, or take in the museums and aquarium along the way. There is lots to see and do.

Hastings is just 15 minutes from Napier and slightly inland. Here you will find great outdoor cafes, wineries, and restaurants that will cater to your every need. Just beyond Hastings to the east is Te Mata Peak. You can drive to the summit or if you are energetic enough the walk ways and mountain bike tracks provide vigorous access to what is a most breath taking and enhancing view of Hawke’s Bay. On the way back be sure to spend some time in the village of Havelock North.

Central Hawke's Bay (CHB) is a district rich in history, character and natural beauty. From the beech-clad mountain slopes of the inland Ruahine Ranges to vast sandy beaches and trout-laden rivers.
